Electroluvs

Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 2 months ago

Electroluvs are an electro pop duo from Scotland initially consisting of Billy Samson (vocals, guitar and programming), and Susan Vennard (keyboards, backing vocals and effects). They began writing and recording in 1998 influenced by synthpop, glam rock, German techno and post punk music.

After two years playing various spit n' sawdust venues around Ayrshire and Glasgow, Electroluvs made their debut with 2000's Balti ep. It was quickly made single of the week in the Scottish broadsheet the Sunday Herald who described it as "the missing link between Soft Cell and the B-52s".

Abandoning their earlier krautrock stylings, Electroluvs became more pop orientated when classically trained Kaye Brewster (vocals, keyboards and violin) joined in 2003. They signed to US synthpop imprint Ninthwave (home of Heaven 17 and White Town) for the release of second album Bubblewrapped (2006). The track "Blonde" from the album was nominated for a Qwartz Electronic Music Award in France. Shortly after, they recorded a session for BBC Radio One at Maida Vale studios, London alongside Dolby-Anol and Housemouse.

As of 2008 Billy is writing new music as Plummeting Party while Kaye is playing in glitch folk duo Violet's Revenge with her sister Christy.
