The Hector Collectors

The Hectors are a ramshackle indie pop group based in Glasgow, but with main songwriter and only permanent member Adam J. Smith coming from Motherwell. They have had many many line-up changes over the years, with members including Ian Smith, P. Martin, Duncan Robertson (Pentothal, The Boy Cartographer, Dananananaykroyd, Simplestorm) A.Murray, Paul McDermott (The Poppadoms, Donut), Chris Elkin (My Legendary Girlfriend, The Just Joans), Gavin Dunbar (Camera Obscura) and Paul Kelly (The Martial Arts, The Plimptons).

Taking their cue from such artists as Half-Man Half-Biscuit, The Hector Collectors wrote songs about unconventional subjects such as the children's TV programme Knightmare, The Supernaturals visiting the 13th Note and being unable to get a seat, the perils of late-night phone sex and forgotten cultural icons such as [B.A. Robertson].
